Dr. James G. Leaf

Dr. James G. Leaf, currently the Senior Partner for the Community Link Foundation, has co-directed the foundation's start-up, especially in regard to the education and public service of youth. Prior to joining CLF, he served as head of five urban and suburban schools in Michigan and Massachusetts. In addition to twenty-five years as teacher, coach, and administrator (grades 3 through college), Dr. Leaf has been Executive Director of the Los Angeles Children's Museum, the first National Program Coordinator for U.S. Outward Bound, and Director of the first residential OB program and school in a state reformatory. He worked in five OB schools here and overseas and as an OB consultant to New Jersey's Department of Community Affairs. He has also consulted for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, the Faculty Advisory Board of Yale University, the Crime Prevention Association of Philadelphia, the National Association of Independent Schools, and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Leaf has served on the boards of the Michigan Space Grant Consortium, the Alumni Council and Principals' Center of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the House of the Seven Gables (Salem), My Jewish Discovery Museum (Los Angeles), Thompson's Island Educational Foundation (Boston),  and the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School (ME). He has been an advisor and peer reviewer for the Office of Educational Research, U.S. Dept. of Education, and Director of the National Education Committee of the Explorers Club of New York. He holds an A.B., M.A. and Ed.D. from Harvard University.
